Current Route

Tokyo / Asakusa -> Nikko -> Tokyo -> Narita.

Dates

  • Justin solo reset: Friday, 2026-07-03.
  • Quinn arrives: Saturday, 2026-07-04 at 3:10 PM at Narita (NRT) Terminal 1, from Chengdu (TFU) Terminal 1.
  • Justin departs Japan: Saturday, 2026-07-11 at 6:00 PM from Narita (NRT).
  • Quinn departs Japan: Sunday, 2026-07-12 at 4:40 PM from Narita (NRT) Terminal 1 to Chengdu (TFU) Terminal 1; onward/final destination still needs confirmation if applicable.

Night Allocation

  • Asakusa / Taito: 2026-07-03 through 2026-07-05 at TOKYO-W-INN Asakusa.
  • Nikko: 2026-07-06 through 2026-07-07 at the Gokomachi Airbnb.
  • Tokyo return: 2026-07-08 through 2026-07-09 at the Yoyogi-Uehara Airbnb.
  • Narita area: 2026-07-10 through 2026-07-11 at the Tomisato / Narita Airbnb, booked as one two-night stay so Quinn can remain after Justin departs.

Optimized Route Shape

  • 2026-07-03: After the family leaves for Haneda, Justin takes his bag to TOKYO-W-INN for early check-in / bag drop, then uses the solo afternoon/evening for a Pokémon Center and Pokémon GO stamp-rally route.
  • 2026-07-04: Quinn self-transfers from Narita to the Tokyo side; Justin meets him at Keisei Ueno, Nippori, or a live-route station closer to Asakusa.
  • 2026-07-05: Use the Asakusa base for an east Tokyo line: Kuramae / Asakusa -> Ueno Park -> Ameyoko / Okachimachi -> Akihabara.
  • 2026-07-06: Leave Asakusa early enough for a morning Tobu limited express, then use Nikko day one for Shinkyo, the World Heritage cluster, and Kanmangafuchi if energy allows.
  • 2026-07-07: Use the full Nikko day for the lake/falls route: Chuzenji Onsen -> Kegon Falls / Lake Chuzenji -> Ryuzu Falls -> optional Akanuma / Senjogahara.
  • 2026-07-08: Keep one low-friction Nikko morning leftover, then return to Yoyogi-Uehara and treat the evening as west-side re-entry.
  • 2026-07-09: Use Yoyogi-Uehara for the clean west Tokyo day: Harajuku / Ura-Harajuku / Cat Street -> Shimokitazawa -> Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building or movie fallback.
  • 2026-07-10: Move from Yoyogi-Uehara to the Narita / Tomisato Airbnb by mid-afternoon, then use Naritasan Omotesando / Shinsho-ji / Park if arrival timing and heat allow.
  • 2026-07-11: Keep Justin’s departure day Narita-local and target Narita Airport around 4:00 PM for the 6:00 PM flight.
  • 2026-07-12: Quinn checks out by 11:00 AM and protects a simple solo route to Narita Terminal 1 for the 4:40 PM departure.

Trip Identity

  • Loose-anchor planning.
  • Wandering-friendly.
  • Clothing, vintage, and neighborhood texture.
  • Arcades and food energy without anime completism.
  • Sushi, snacks, cafes, coffee, matcha, and reading-hour mornings.
  • A few strong shrines/temples, not shrine-stacking.
  • One high-view/skyscraper moment.
  • Movie theater as a heat/rain/low-energy option.
  • No public bath houses, sento, or public onsen as activities.

Day-By-Day Index

Gotchas

  • Do not optimize this into an hour-by-hour itinerary.
  • Each day needs enough anchors to avoid decision paralysis and enough empty space to wander.
  • All Quinn-trip lodging is locked from 2026-07-03 through 2026-07-12.
  • The remaining planning work is route/order/timing verification, live schedule checks, and activity choices, not lodging-area decisions.
