Constraints And Preferences

Purpose

Capture Quinn-trip interests, constraints, and planning rules.

When to Use

Use this page before choosing day anchors, restaurants, shopping areas, or lodging tradeoffs.

Default Baseline

Use justin trip defaults for general pacing, lodging, food, allergy, airport-buffer, laundry, and verification defaults. This page records Quinn-trip interests, constraints, and overrides.

Core Planning Rule

Plan days around one or two strong anchors, then leave enough empty space to wander, browse, snack, sit in cafes, and follow whatever looks interesting nearby.

The goal is not an optimized hour-by-hour itinerary. The goal is to avoid standing around saying “I don’t know what to do now.”

Interest Clusters

  • Harajuku, Ura-Harajuku, Cat Street, Shimokitazawa, and Koenji for fashion, vintage, thrift, cafes, and backstreet wandering.
  • Akihabara for arcades, game centers, food, electronics texture, and night energy rather than anime completism.
  • Yanaka, Nezu, Ueno edges, Asakusa/Kuramae, Shimokitazawa, and Koenji for older-neighborhood atmosphere.
  • Sushi, snacks, food corridors, small restaurants, coffee, matcha, and reading-hour mornings.
  • A few great shrines/temples, not shrine-stacking.
  • A movie theater as a heat, rain, or low-energy anchor.
  • One free or low-friction high-view/skyscraper moment.

Hard Constraints

  • Quinn arrives at Narita mid-afternoon on 2026-07-04, so arrival day stays low pressure.
  • Be in the Narita area by Friday night, 2026-07-10.
  • Do not travel from Tokyo to Narita as the main move on Justin’s 2026-07-11 departure day.
  • No public bath houses, sento, or public onsen as activities. Private in-room or private-reservable baths attached to lodging are acceptable.

Gotchas

  • Do not turn the interest clusters into a checklist.
  • Do not make every day a cross-city zigzag.
  • Do not center lodging or activities around public bathing.
